Start kneading with the coconut milk adding a little at a time until you have a good soft (but firm, not sticky) dough. In a bowl, mix your dry ingredients: the flour, crushed cardamom, yeast and sugar. Add the water while mixing the content, followed by the milk. Sieve the flour, add in the yeast directly into it and the sugar and cardamon.
Instructions to make Coconut (Powder)Mahamri:
- Add everything in a bowl except water.
- Mix them together for a few minutes then start adding water.
- Knead until the dough is nice and soft, about 10mins.
- Cut into 7- 8 pieces and shape into balls
- Cover and let rise.
- After rising, roll out each ball like chapati not too thin and cut into 4 quarters.
- In a karai or pot add the oil for frying and place on medium heat.
- When the oil is hot add the quarter and start frying one side and flip to the other side, remove from heat when its golden brown.
- Enjoy with tea/ Coffee or mbaazi/coconut beans!
