The ingredients needed to make Karanji:
- Make ready 1 cup maida / all-purpose flour / plain flour
- Prepare to taste Salt
- Make ready 2 tsp ghee
- Take 1/2 cup milk

- Get 3/4 cup grated coconut
- Take 1/2 cup Jaggery
- Get 10 Cashews
- Prepare 10 raisins
- Get 10 almonds
- Take 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
Karnaji is filled with sweet stuffing of coconut, rava/semolina & dry fruits. In addition to that it's flavoured with hint of cardamom. These can be deep fried, air fried or baked. The crispy top layer of Gujiya with stuffing of mouth melting delicious coconut rava filling creates a beautiful melange of ingredients that you could relish anytime.
Instructions to make Karanji:
- In a pan, add the jaggery, when it starts to melting, add the grated coconut and fry it for some time
- Add the dry fruits and cardamom powder and mix it
- Now the stuffing is ready and keep it aside.
- Now to make the dough, add the ghee and salt in the all-purpose flour and mix it properly
- Now rub and crumble the dough well between your hands.
- Then add the milk and knead the dough
- Further, cover with a moist cloth and rest for 30 minutes.
- Now take a small ball and roll it into a thick poori
- Also grease with warm milk to the edges of the puri.
- Now place the stuffing in it. And close the poori by pressing the edges gently. Now fold it into inside
- Furthermore, deep fry the karanjis till they turn golden brown.
- Finally, drain over the kitchen towel and serve.
These can be deep fried, air fried or baked.
